Divya & Ajay | Wedding | Ambernath
November 13, 2015 /by Prasad jindam
There are weddings that occupy a family for a week, and then there is the Malayali wedding: Blink and you will miss it!
Being Half-a-Mallu (stemming from the fact that I am married to one) the Malayali wedding ceremony incorporates only the most basic rituals. Chances are, if you're running late, you'll be in time for the sadya (the scrumptious food served on banana leaf) and not the thalikettu (the actual wedding ceremony) cause it got over in a few minutes. I find their ceremonies and rituals simply beautiful and I am not saying this to please my wife… ;-)
Our couple here, Divya and Ajay too tied the knot in such a lovely, and very traditional, Hindu Nair wedding ceremony a few weeks back. The beautiful open-air Ayyappa temple nestled in the mountains at Ambernath offered the perfect setting to this beautiful wedding. This wedding was followed by a grand reception party in the evening for friends and family. It was a great pleasure documenting their ceremony which was full of laughter & a lot of rituals giving us lovely detail shots. Congratulations guys! Thank you for letting us be a part of your Big Day! We surely had a blast.
And ya, a last bit of gyaan, for a guest at a Malayalee ceremony, punctuality is essential! In case you missed parts of it as a guest, or want to understand all of the next one that you attend, here is our vision of a beautiful Hindu Malayali Wedding.
